Sharp - Stand up for yourself

Stand up for yourself? Why of course. But the issue is how, how much, when, where, to whom, why? Sharp living means lots of thinking and shrewdness.

You don’t kill a fly with a bazooka.

Stand up for yourself? Why of course. It is part of love for yourself. And we are built to stand up for ourselves. We have defense mechanisms for our soul and bodily nerves to warn us that someone stepped on our foot.

“Please get off my foot” sounds like a smart way to begin an important dialogue.

Stand up for yourself? Why of course. Otherwise, if you don’t stand up for yourself, you will at the end of your days be very miserable. This is not said to put anyone down. Some people were born into North Korean prisons. It’s not their fault that they do not have many options.

Stand up for yourself? Why of course. The real trick is “can you stand up for yourself while you also stand up for the other person?”

An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind.

If you win a fight with your spouse, you are married to a loser.

How much time do we spend standing up for other people? Is that another area where we should tithe?

As in...I give ten percent of my brain and time and energy in defending the rights of others.
